The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Langley was victorious in the
11th inning. Matt Holliday stroked a one-base hit. David Ortiz was next and
he grounded into a double play. Kurt Suzuki then reached on an error.
Furcal came up and he slapped a base-hit. Chipper Jones got his turn next,
but he was a strikeout victim. Chainsaw was set down quietly in the bottom
of the 11th.
The victory was credited to Justin Masterson(1-0) who went 1/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. Masterson got help from Mariano Rivera who was credited
with his 1st save. Brandon Medders(0-1) was the loser in relief. It was a
tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 2 innings of
work.
